Sandella Chambers was born in Oakland, California, to Taylor and Sandra Chambers. She grew up in a bi-racial family in the 1970s, her mother white and her father black. She was the oldest of four children, one of whom was her identical twin sister. They were a lower middle-income family; her mother was a teacher’s aide, and her father was a laborer who worked hard to provide for his family.
She and her family moved to Northern California when she was eleven years old. After she graduated High School, she moved to Los Angeles, California, for a couple of years. She then moved back to Northern California shortly after she had her first child. She attended California State University Chico and graduated with two Bachelors of Arts, one in Psychology and the other in Social Science. The emphasis studied was Child Development and Family Relationships.
Soon after she graduated college, she had her second son. Then, she became a family support specialist for almost fourteen years as a single mother to five children. Two were her biological children, and three were her twin sisters she helped raise. She stopped working to care for her ill father, which she did until he passed. During that time, she also had her own diagnosis of Breast cancer. She has done chemo twice, radiation, and has had a double mastectomy. She is still under treatment, which she will continue to do.
She is currently continuing her education. She says you should never stop learning new things and bettering yourself. You need to push yourself to do better and be better. She has been on a journey of self-healing and finding herself. She has also been building her relationship with God. This has led her to where she is today: an author. She will continue to learn, grow, and inspire.
