Mayra Colon was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico and raised in Orange County New York. She is the proud mother of three grown children and grandmother of five wonderful grandchildren. Mayra has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling. Helping others has been a passion and a journey for over 30 years. Currently she works as a Clinical Educator helping patients understand their disease state and treatment.

Mayra is the author of the book “I Am A Champion”. Due to her cultural and religious upbringing she struggled with uncertainty, and prejudices that led her to live her life with fear and indecisiveness. She wrote this book to challenge herself as well as to inspire and encourage others to resist and persist day by day moving a little further ahead. She believes this can be done as we strengthen our faith in God’s wonderful promises.

Mayra likes to use humor as a way to navigate through difficult times and her belief is that victory is not giving up. Life is a continuous process that is not accomplished just at once, but through accepting the opportunity given to us every single day.
